Updated: Jan 27

"Meet the Team: The Hearts Behind the Humane Society of Harris County (HSofHC)" At the Humane Society of Harris County, we are fortunate to have a team of dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of animals in need. These compassionate and hardworking team members are the hearts behind our organization, and we want to take a moment to introduce them to you.

First, we have Jacqueline (Jackie) Roberts, our Director of Marketing and Development. As the Director of Marketing and Development at the HSofHC, Jackie plays a crucial role in advancing the organization's mission. Responsible for overseeing both marketing strategies and fundraising initiatives, Jackie leads efforts to enhance the visibility of HSofHC, distinguish it from other entities, and reinforce its unique identity. Her role involves creating and implementing effective marketing campaigns, managing donor relationships, and driving fundraising activities to secure crucial financial support. As Director of Marketing and Development, Jackie contributes to the overall success of HSofHC by strategically promoting its programs, engaging with the community, and ensuring a sustainable foundation for the organization's vital work in animal welfare. Next, we have Carlee, our Operations Manager. Carlee oversees the day-to-day operations of our shelter. She ensures that our animals receive the care they need, manages our team of staff and volunteers, and works tirelessly to find loving homes for our furry friends.

Now, let's introduce Melissa, our dedicated Animal Care Manager. In her role, Melissa ensures that our animals receive comprehensive medical and behavioral care. Taking charge of the day-to-day oversight of all animals under HSofHC's care, she also demonstrates a steadfast commitment to coordinating the HSofHC transport program. Melissa's wealth of experience and compassionate approach make her an indispensable asset to our team.

Next, we have Taylor, our Adoption Coordinator. Taylor is responsible for matching our animals with their forever families. She takes the time to get to know each potential adopter, ensuring that they are the perfect fit for our animals. Taylor also works closely with our foster families, who provide temporary homes for animals in need. She ensures that our foster program runs smoothly, matching animals with foster families and providing support throughout the fostering process. Let's also acknowledge Karin, our Store Manager at Dog-Gone Good Treasures, our second-hand store. In addition to spearheading the organization of our annual Puttin' on the Dog event, Karin diligently oversees the day-to-day operations of DGGT—a social enterprise crucial for supporting our shelter. Beyond creating a visually appealing store that contributes to fundraising, Karin is unwavering in her efforts to raise awareness about our mission and actively engage with the community. Her dedication has played a pivotal role in building robust relationships within our community and securing essential resources for our shelter. Karin's commitment to our cause is truly commendable. These are just a few of the incredible individuals who make up the team at the Humane Society of Harris County. Each team member brings their unique skills and passion to our organization, working together to create a safe and enriching environment for both the animals and the community. We are grateful for their dedication and commitment to our mission of promoting compassion, wellness, and partnership between people and animals. Without their hard work, our shelter would not be able to make the impact that it does. Next time you visit our shelter or interact with our team, take a moment to thank them for their incredible work. They truly are the hearts behind the Humane Society, and we are grateful for everything they do. Stay tuned for more blog posts where we will share success stories of animals that have been adopted from our shelter, information about upcoming community events and fundraisers, and tips on responsible pet ownership. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of animals in need."
